Are you interested in gaining knowledge and helping others? The Colorado Master Gardener program is for you!  The Colorado Master Gardener program has played an active role in the education of Boulder County gardeners for more than 35 years.

Participants receive intensive training in horticulture in exchange for community volunteer service answering gardening questions, teaching classes, mentoring special populations, writing articles, and maintaining demonstration sites.

Love Apple Festival

A summer celebration of the love apple
Saturday, September 10, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Gateway Park, 4800 N. 28th St. in Boulder

Bring your tomatoes to share with others, sample tomatoes of many varieties, sizes and colors.  Meet and mingle with tomato lovers.
A panel of judges will vote on “best tasting tomato variety in Boulder.”
Entry fee: FREE with tomatoes from your garden or $3 per person
If you bring tomatoes:
3 of each  named variety, 10 if a cherry variety
(sorry, ‘unknowns’ can’t be entered)
Judging is on variety, not individual gardeners' efforts

How to tackle powdery mildew

August brings the sultry “dog days” of summer when even watering the garden seems a task in the oppressive heat. The tomatoes, squash, cucumbers and melons are soaking up water and sunlight, and if they didn’t need my attention, I’d likely just stay in the hammock, read mysteries, and sip cold drinks. But I want to see the literal fruits of my labors, so I’m sticking with the garden work...
